Roman cities had a nice cerimony of inauguration. Citizens would come to a special temple usually set at the centre of their towns, and drop some object to be dropped inside the temple, which would then be covered and embed a bit of all citizens' belongings into the city — forever.
In SL, this is actually fun to do. And we can open the temple every year, and place new objects (for the new citizens) in it... until we run out of prims lol
